Washington State Alcoholism Plans

In 1957 RCW 70.96 directed the creation of an Alcoholism Program in the State of Washington. First housed in the Department of Institutions, moved to the Department of Health, and finally absorbed into the Department of Health and Social Services. The program progressed through several name and level changes as well, beginning as the Alcoholism Section and then to the Office of Alcoholism, moving to the Bureau of Alcoholism and Substance abuse and finianally to the Divisions of Alcohol and Substance Abuse. Throughout these many metamorphises, the program has issued annual reports stating purpose, reporting accomplishments, and identifying plans.
